Hello, Friends!

Me and my travel partner, Lucas, in upstate NH.

Hi! I’m Craig— husband, father, dog companion, higher education technology professional, road-trip enthusiast, musician, and, whenever possible, photographer.

Through my photography, I strive to authentically share the beauty and goodness of everyday life. I’m drawn to the quiet, honest moments that often go unnoticed—the ordinary scenes that remind us the world is still full of wonder.

My photography journey began in the early 2000s when my sons were in high school. They both played lacrosse, and I eventually became the unofficial team photographer. When I wasn’t on the sidelines, I spent my time exploring wildlife and landscape photography.

In 2011, I entered my first—and only—photography contest, hosted by the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership. To my surprise, I was awarded the Grand Prize in the River and Towns category for a photograph from my very first attempt at photographing a fireworks display. I never entered another competition. I realized that what mattered most to me wasn’t collecting awards or recognition, but creating photographs that were meaningful to me, regardless of how others might judge them.

Over the years, a few of my images have also found homes elsewhere, which has been both encouraging and humbling:

In 2026, what had been a somewhat wandering, twenty-year relationship with photography became something much more intentional. After spending months reflecting on the idea of being present, I began using my camera as a practice of mindfulness. For me, it has become a meaningful way to navigate lifelong struggles with depression and ADHD.

Instead of chasing social media approval or trying to create images that impress, I now use photography as an invitation to slow down, pay attention, and truly see. I think of myself less as a photographer seeking perfect pictures and more as a documentarian of fleeting moments—recording people, places, and small details that may be here today and gone tomorrow.

That is the heart of Place and Presence: an invitation to slow down, notice what is already around us, and discover that the ordinary is often extraordinary.

PS: I posted a question to ChatGPT, Why do you think I photograph? I encourage you to visit the post to learn what AI had to say about me. .

My Photography Mantra:

Be present. Honor what’s here. Leave it better seen.
